Hi EverestNews.com, I am now in
Mendoza. Long day of traveling from Atlanta to Santiago then on to Mendoza.
Get the permit in AM then begin
the trek via Horcones valley. My first stop is at Camp Confluencia at 3300
meters then on to basecamp at Plaza de Mulas at 4300 meters.Hopefully I can
make dispatches from Plaza de Mulas. Will keep you posted. Larry

His expeditions include
Denali, Everest, Ama Dablam and
Moose's tooth. Larry is now headed to Aconcagua.
Hi EverestNews.com, Very busy
finalizing details for the Aconcagua climb. Have had some last minute change
in plans. I was planning on climbing the Polish Glacier route with Bryan
Bonser. Bryan and I climbed on Ama Dablam together. Bryan did the Normal route
in February of this year.
We learned that due to the
heavy snows that the mules could not transport our gear thru the Vacas and
Relinchos valleys into Plaza Argentina, basecamp for the Polish glacier route.
We did learn that the Horcones valley was open and the Normal route via the NW
ridge was a possibility.
After lengthy discussions
Bryan and I decided that it would be best for him to postpone his trip and
attempt the Polish glacier later this season. Since I was unable to postpone I
have elected to go solo via the Normal route.
Bags are all packed and I
hope I have not forgotten anything.
EverestGear.com was very helpful with suggestions on gear, food etc. I
leave out of Atlanta tommorow night, arriving in Mendoza Argentina on Sat Dec.
4th. Hope to begin Trek into basecamp on Sunday 5th. Will keep you posted ~
