PBS television show FRONTLINE film "Storm Over Everest,"
airing Tuesday, May 13 at 9 pm on PBS
In "Storm Over Everest," world-renowned mountaineer and
filmmaker David Breashears tells the story of the May 1996 blizzard that
killed 8 climbers. In HD, the film is a truly remarkable and harrowing
portrayal of the worst climbing disaster in Mount Everest's history. As you
may know, Breashears was on the mountain during that storm and assisted in the
rescue efforts. Now, he returns to tell the fuller story of what really
happened on that legendary climb through remarkably intimate interviews with
those who survived—many who have never spoken before on American
television—powerful recreations of the fierce
conditions endured by the climbers, and of course, breathtaking footage from
Everest's summit.
