Third summit attempt of Inaki Ochoa de Olza on
Update 05/09/2005: Inaki
Ochoa de Olza, from the Lorpen-Diario de Navarra expedition, will begin
tomorrow Tuesday 10th of May his third attempt on Dhaulagiri. Ochoa de Olza,
with Austrian Christian Stangl and Ecuadorian Ivan Vallejo, will climb until
Camp II (6.800 meters), Wednesday to Camp III (7.400 meters) and Thursday 12
th to the summit.
Thursday, Ochoa de Olza arrived at the foresummit after 16 hours of climbing
without stops from the base camp, but the poor conditions of the traverse to
the summit forced him to came back. Inaki says that the weather is windy but
ok and hopes the snow on the traverse will be more consistent.
