Apa Sherpa, 21 time Mt. Everest Summiteer in Town, All Set for 1700 km GHT Celebrity Walk

Apa Sherpa, 21 time Mount Everest Summiteer and “SAARC Goodwill Ambassador for Climate Change,” is back in town (Kathmandu) and he is all set for the Great Himalaya Trail - Climate Smart Celebrity Trek, which will last for 120 days, starting this January 15.

The GHT Climate Smart Celebrity Trek (GHT-CSCT) will raise awareness for the effects of climate change on the Himalayan ecosystem and people, to promote pro-poor sustainable tourism as a potential climate adaptation tool and position the Great Himalaya Trail as Nepal’s new sustainable tourism product, contributing both to poverty alleviation and economic and climate resilience of local communities.

Apa Sherpa will be available for meeting and interviews till January 14 at the office of Himalayan Climate Initiative, the organizer of this event.
